In this vendor spotlight, Samuel Walker, Services Account Executive at Cantel, shares how he supports channel partners with cost-effective infrastructure solutions and highlights the trends driving innovation across IT support services.
Tell us a little bit about what you do...
We at Cantel provide our channel partners like Stacked with the ability to give their customers cost-saving infrastructure support solutions. In today’s economic climate and the cost of vendor branded care packages, 3rd party solutions with Cantel & Stacked leave businesses being able to use their budget more freely and reduce the risk of costly IT downtime. Whether it is server, storage, networking or EUC infrastructure, Cantel can provide a solution.
What do you love about your job?
Getting the chance to travel & meet lots of channel partners, bringing both strong profits & savings to all of those involved in the process.
What’s the hottest thing in your solution or product portfolio today?
As the world continues to swing between both physical and cloud data centre infrastructure, one absolute is the importance of people’s devices. Cantel’s end user computing support covering laptops, desktops & tablets is our largest growth area and a key aspect of our business’s current success.
What trends are shaping innovation in your company today?
A key and consistent trend that is shaping the day to day for Cantel is again the importance of the end user device. Becoming increasingly more relevant than the traditional data centre infrastructure itself, it has become a worker’s single point of failure. This isn’t just PC’s but phones & retail POS systems for example. Our hardware support process is frequently being utilised in retail settings to move on from the traditional rip & replace methods, moving towards cost effective & sustainable technical support & repair services.
What do you think makes a great team?
The best teams are always diverse. The ability to lean on and learn from a group of people with vastly different experiences, problem solving methods and business approaches enables us to become both well rounded and prepared for whatever the next challenge may be!
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Any Formula One driver. Been a massive fan of the sport for as long as I can remember, plus the chance to drive at high speeds all around the world sounds like a pretty good time to me. Not a bad weekend gig!
AI, friend or foe?
For most of the year, more foe than friend. However around the financial year end when the large support opportunities come around for partners, so do mountains of tender documents and questionnaires. The ability to utilise AI to speed up and refine our responses proves invaluable for both our and customer successes!
