We have been providing Managed Print Solutions to hotels across Ireland for more than 10 years. Our Managed Print Solutions are scalable from single devices, right up to entire fleets across multiple locations.
We work with some of the most well-known hospitality groups and independent hotels in the industry.
According to the CSO, a record 20 million tourists visited Ireland in 2019. Tourism Ireland said that this generated €8.9bn in revenue.
In 2020, this was reduced to just over 4 million because of the pandemic, global lockdowns, and restrictions on air travel. We recognise that our hospitality customers have faced an unprecedented challenge to their livelihoods since the pandemic began and with that in mind, we strive to add value to their business wherever we can.
With the ongoing restrictions, changes to indoor and outdoor dining and drinking rules, questions around which wellness facilities can be used safely, wedding numbers and daily additional cleaning requirements, we can only imagine how difficult it is for hoteliers to keep track of everything at the moment. Put simply, a Managed Print contract means that hotels can outsource their entire printer fleet management and free up some of their precious time.
We have also found that in many cases, when a device is purchased and managed in-house, the true capabilities of the device for digitalising the flow of paper and improving document security across the business are often lost, simply because the user is unaware of the features and benefits and does not have the time to commit to the learning and set up.
We have tailored solutions for hotels of all sizes, always with two specific goals; to save them time and money. In our experience, these are some of the challenges faced by the hospitality sector in relation to Managed Print.
- High degree of security and compliance requirements with regard to GDPR / processing of personal data
- Escalating costs of existing print infrastructure
- Cost reduction mandates to reduce print spend specifically
- Print infrastructure not aligned to business needs
- Increasing focus on operational efficiency due to external, competitive and environmental pressures
Stacked are the only Irish Managed Print Service provider that partners with both market leaders in this area – HP and Xerox, which means that we are uniquely positioned to bring the hospitality industry the latest and best technology from the organisations that are at the top of their game globally.
For the hospitality industry, things like cleanliness, excellent service, sustainability, and meaningful experiences all take time to organise and carry out well. These areas contribute directly to the guest experience and give the business an edge over their competitors so they should be the priority for hoteliers, not spending time managing printer fleets and reordering toner.
Other challenges that we know the hospitality industry are facing right now are staff acquisition, training and retention and a need for full visibility on costs both in the short and medium term. Variable expenses are not what hoteliers need right now so a Managed Print contract can also give them peace of mind in relation to that.
Our partnerships with HP and Xerox mean that we can offer extremely competitive monthly rates and there is no capital outlay for devices. Our Managed Print Solution is a 3- or 5-year contract with a monthly fee. What this means is that our customers get the most efficient, secure, and up to date devices and software, they don’t have to worry about managing supplies, downloading the latest patches or security updates, or troubleshooting multiple device brands or models, all the while balancing operating expense versus capital spend. Devices can be upgraded upon renewal and our support package covers automated supplies replenishment, remote and onsite break-fix and all supplies and spare parts for the duration of the contract. Our support team resolves 75% of all calls remotely, which significantly reduces device downtime.
In October 2019 The Irish Times wrote an article that led with; “Sustainable tourism is a big buzzword globally, as the backlash to years of excess begins. Yet what is the Irish hospitality and tourism sector doing to ensure tourism on the Emerald Isle is as green as possible?”
An additional benefit of a Managed Print contract is access to PrintReleaf, an innovative new platform which helps hospitality businesses directly offset their carbon footprint. Our customers paper consumption is automatically measured through an integration with their Managed Print Solution, calculating their actual forest impact. PrintReleaf Exchange then reverse-calculates how many trees were deforested to harvest their forest footprint. Their forest footprint is then certifiably reforested at local and global planting projects of their choice, including one in Ireland!
Depending on the devices and toners selected, customers also have access to the HP Partner Programme or the Xerox Green World Alliance programme to recycle their old toners, helping them to achieve their sustainability goals.
Notifications informing hotel guests of these programmes in the meeting rooms or business centre can enhance the hotel’s reputation for being an environmentally conscious business.
Sustainability, Health & Wellness and Technology upgrades have become more and more important to hotel guests over the past decade. These areas require significant investment. With a Managed Print contract hospitality businesses are empowered to make their printer fleets work harder and add tangible value to their business rather than just being an additional outlay.
Print devices today offer more than just the standard print, copy, scan functionality of the past. Integrations connecting the device seamlessly with sharing platforms like Google Drive, DropBox and SharePoint are now standard and apps that can translate, proofread, and redact documents or even allow employees to clock in and out through the print device using a badge or a PIN are all available now.
It is now also possible to offer staff and guests the facility to use the device in a completely touchless capacity, helping to reduce the number of shared touchpoints in the hotel.

The Mespil Hotel, Dublin saw a decrease of 25% in the number of devices required due to HP’s balance deployment strategy. This approach also standardised the user experience and gave improved speeds and print quality. It has removed the need for any staff to be involved in the support of the printer network, allowing them more time to spend spoiling their guests!

The Lyrath Estate Kilkenny said, “Before Stacked got involved, we were managing multiple types of devices that were purchased on an ad-hoc basis over time. There were no service contracts in place, so we were spending valuable time sourcing and managing the different supplies for these machines. These circumstances resulted in us having to write off obsolete stock on a regular basis. Key personnel were also being distracted by having to get involved with the management and upkeep of old printers and copiers.”
