Do You Recycle IT?

According to Statista’s IT Market Model, “the global IT equipment market, which includes PCs and tablets, servers, and IT peripherals, had a size of 431 billion dollars in 2017 alone.”

“The laptop and tablet segment in Ireland is expected to amount to approximately 527.1 million U.S. Dollars (€478 million) by 2021. This includes B2B and B2C revenues.”

As a supplier of electrical and electronic products to businesses in today’s environment, here at Stacked, we know that it is especially important for organisations that are purchasing bulk quantities of equipment like laptops, computers, phones, servers, peripherals, printers and scanners to ensure they have a plan in place to dispose of their old equipment responsibly.

As such, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Recycle IT – a Community Electronic Recycling Social Enterprise based in Dublin 22.

As a not for profit social enterprise, Recycle IT has benefited the WEEE sector since 2007 by collecting electronic waste from both householders and organisations who may otherwise find it hard to recycle.

The service reduces the volume of electronic waste going to landfill and increases environmental awareness among local householders, community groups, businesses, colleges and schools.

Recycle IT is the only Community Electronic Recycling Social Enterprise in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow providing a neighbourhood, community and business collection service for all types of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Recycle IT started as Clondalkin Community Recycling Initiative in 2002 with a collection service added in 2007. On average each year they offer collection services to approximately 90,000 homes and organisations across Dublin collecting a range of WEEE including kettles, TVs, dishwashers and computers. Income generated by collection and breakdown of e-waste is reinvested in training and employment and environment awareness programmes. All domestic electrical appliances are free to recycle with Recycle IT – they can be dropped off free or collected for a small fee.
